Samsung Galaxy S5 to bring new 8GB mobile RAM?
Samsung has announced the world's first 8GB mobile RAM and it could make it into the company's next flagship mobile phone.
The South Korean manufacturer says the new RAM will increase the level of performance in its smartphones, as well as reducing battery consumption at the same time.
Announcing the technology in a press release, the company said that the 8GB low power double data rate 4 (LPDDR4) mobile DRAM will succeed Samsung's LPDDR3 memory at some point this year.
It added that it will use the boosted memory to focus on high-resolution devices with much larger screens, as well as tablets and ultra-slim notebooks.
The timeline means that users could see the feature first appear in the Samsung Galaxy S5, which is expected to arrive over the next few months.
Samsung's executive vice president of Memory Sales and Marketing Young-Hyun Jun said the company will continue to introduce the "most advanced mobile DRAM one step ahead of the rest of the industry".
