BlackBerry assures customers about future
BlackBerry has written an open letter to consumers in a bid to reassure them about the future of the company.
The letter admits that the firm is facing "challenging times", but it added that measures are currently being taken to address the situation and fans should not bail on the company just yet.
BlackBerry's chief marketing officer Frank Boulben said that customers are regulalrly reading about the company, often for the wrong reasons.
However, he added: "We want customers to know that they can continue to count on us - we are here to stay. We have substantial cash on our balance sheet and we have no debt. We are restructuring our cost base and this is a very painful transition, but it will make us financially stronger and we want to get that message directly to our customers."
A key element to the firm's plan to regain ground lost to its rivals is the launch of its BlackBerry Messenger application for Android and Apple users.
