Apple patents flexible, curved iPhone
Apple has been granted a patent for a brand new mobile phone design. The document, which was first filed in 2011, has now been officially granted to the American manufacturer.
The patent allows for a smartphone with a flexible, curved design and iPhone with virtual buttons. The images attached to the document show a curved iPhone with a wraparound display, giving it extra surface area to allow for up to five apps per row.
It also suggests that this upcoming curved iPhone would have multiple cameras to track your face and adjust the display accordingly.
The patent also indicates that Apple plans to ditch its physical buttons in the future - a landmark decision for the firm.
It also raises questions as to whether the company plans to bring its fingerprint scanner into upcoming handsets or if it is ditching it. The feature in the iPhone 5S is housed behind the home button and it is unclear where else the scanner could be placed.
