Was the Samsung Galaxy S3 the best phone of 2012?
A number of innovative mobile phones have been released in 2012, with technologies like Near Field Communication (NFC) and Long Term Evolution (LTE) becoming more prominent in the year.
Many people would have predicted that the Apple iPhone 5 would enjoy huge success, but the impressive sales of the Samsung Galaxy S3 might not have been foreseen.
Within just 150 days of its release in May, 30 million units of the 'designed by nature' handset had been sold.
The uSwitch Mobile Phone Tracker shows that the South Korean manufacturer's device has consistently been the most popular in the UK since its launch.
It has also been widely acclaimed by experts in the industry, scooping awards like the T3 and Mobile Choice Phone of the Year.
The smartphone is pre-installed with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, but owners are now able to upgrade to the latest major update, the Jelly Bean platform.
A 1.4 GHz quad-core processor powers the device, which has a 4.8-inch HD display and eight-megapixel camera.
