Vodafone provides 'fastest mobile internet'

Vodafone is the best network for fast mobile internet browsing it has been revealed, which could encourage consumers to sell their old phone in order to purchase a new smartphone.

Mobile network O2 instructed Siroda to carry out independent research into how speeds varied across the UK's five mobile internet networks.

Testing was carried out over a 60-day period at 150 locations across the UK, with the aim of replicating how people use their phones on a daily basis.

Chief executive officer of Vodafone Guy Laurence said: "This week's independent study by O2 is a welcome endorsement of Vodafone having the best network in the UK."

The network is enjoying a high level of demand for its handsets at present, he added, which could be due to an increasing number of customers upgrading to the Apple iPhone - now available on the network.

Vodafone recently revealed the Sony Ericsson Vivaz is available to pre-order now.
