Virgin and Spotify partnership may prompt mobile recycling
A new partnership agreement between Virgin Media and Spotify could prompt people to trade in their old mobile phones in order to access content provided by the companies.
Under the plans by the two businesses, Virgin will offer special deals and bundles relating to cloud music services available from Spotify across multiple services, including those that will be accessible via handsets.
By upgrading to a smartphone or other device that provides access to mobile content, individuals could open up a range of media possibilities on the go.
Virgin Media claims that the exclusive deal will make it easier to find and listen to music by making the 13 million-track Spotify catalogue available to its customers when it launches over the coming months.
"By teaming up with Virgin Media we're giving millions more people across the UK the chance to enjoy all the world’s music at their fingertips," said Spotify director of business development Andreas Liffgarden.
Virgin Media has also recently launched its first advertising campaign for its watch TV TiVo service, which is fronted by Hustle actor Marc Warren.
