Twitter acquires Vine Apple iPhone app
Twitter has acquired Apple iPhone application Vine, which can be downloaded for free through the App Store.
The tool allows users to capture and share a video which lasts for six seconds or less, and the footage is automatically looped.
It therefore shares the theme of brevity that the huge social networking site adopts with its 140-character-or-less Tweet restriction.
Creations can be uploaded to Twitter and/or Facebook, so members of these websites can easily show friends and family moments from their life.
Apple iPhone owners can also browse through other users' videos by searching through categories which interest them, such as travel or sports.
The most interesting creations are likely to be found under the Editor's Picks or Popular Now sections.
Creative videographers might also like to download Viddy, which allows users to add visual effects to footage.
Those who download the free tool from iTunes can share their edited recordings with friends through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr.
