Trading In Mobile Could Lead Users To Apple IPad

A significant number of UK consumers may have been trading in their used mobile phone and splashing out on an Apple iPad, if new figures are to be believed.

The technology provider and creator of the iPhone has announced more than three million iPads have been sold in just 80 days of retail.

Such a statistic is likely to be seen as handsome reward for Apple, which has invested a significant amount of time and skill in designing the handset.

Software developers have created more than 11,000 apps specific to the iPad, as well as making it compatible with more than half of the 225,000 already available to iPhone and iPod Touch users.

Steve Jobs, chief executive officer at Apple, states: "People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives. We're working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people."

Another option for those contemplating trading in a mobile is the iPhone 4, which Apple is set to release in the UK this week.
