Trade In Mobile Phone To Enjoy New O2 3G Network

Consumers in London may have the ultimate reason to trade in their mobile phones after O2 announced it has launched a new 3G network in the city.

The company said it has switched on the new superfast service having been granted permission to do so by Ofcom earlier this year.

It is the first of all Britain's major mobile operators to launch a network based on an updated 900MHz licence.

Those who would like to take advantage of it immediately could sell their used phones in order to make way for a top-of-the-range smartphone or tablet.

Commenting on the service, Nigel Purdy, chief technology officer at Telefonica O2 UK, said: "We're thrilled with the results. Quite simply, on O2's network, more customers can use more data, and experience it quicker."

The firm also recently launched its O2 Academy TV product, which allows customers to access clips from music gigs and shows.
