Trade-in mobile for iPhone and enjoy free calls
Britons who trade-in a mobile and upgrade to an Apple iPhone have been handed a new way to make free calls.
Chris Smith, writing for T3, explains the new Skype app enables individuals to contact each other at no cost when they have access to a Wi-Fi or 3G connection.
It is arguably a follow-up to Apple's FaceTime service – which allowed free calls only between two parties when both were using one of its models – released six months ago.
The new Skype app does not rely on the recipient of a call using an Apple iPhone or iPod Touch.
"FaceTime has struggled to gain traction thanks mainly to Apple's unwillingness to open it up to more platforms," notes Mr Smith, perhaps indicating the cooperation of numerous mobile networks is key to providing a good service.
Flora Graham, writing for CNET UK, recently named the iPhone 4 as one of the best models released in 2010.
