Tourists bitter about mobile phone charges

16/08/2012

Summer holidays are an increasingly costly pursuit for tourists, so much so that a large number of people have now taken to holidaying domestically.

The people that do continue to head abroad, though, are feeling overcharged on a number of items including their mobile phone bill, the Daily Mail reports.

Indeed, new research undertaken by YouGov found that 63 per cent of respondents of its survey named high mobile bills as one of the top five rip-offs when on holiday.

Bill shock shouldn't be a problem for tourists in the EU this summer, however, as the European Commission brought in new regulations last month to cap data allowance.

Managing director for foreign exchange company Caxton FX James Hickman said it is clear that the nation feels there are many rip-offs to be aware off when taking a break.

"Too many Brits end up shelling out for extra charges because they are too embarrassed to take out their calculator and work out the difference," he continued.
