Tablets May Soon Be Top Option For Those Trading In Mobile Phones

Tablets are to become an increasingly popular choice among consumers who trade in a mobile and go on the hunt for a replacement in the months and years to come.

That is the view of growth partnership company Frost and Sullivan, which predicts the upward trend in the use of the devices is set to continue.

Although the market is dominated by the Apple iPad – the handset took about 90 per cent of the market share in 2010 – there are plenty of other models to look out for.

Indeed, some 100 tablets are due to be released in 2011, following on from total sales of 18.3 million last year.

And one of the key sectors in which tablets are due to be sold in greater volume is business, which currently accounts for about five per cent of all sales but is to rise to 30 per cent, according to the firm.

As well as the iPad, other popular tablet models include the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the BlackBerry PlayBook.
