Switching to Apple mobile phones may help firms with promotion
Businesses offering their staff old mobile phones could upgrade to the iPhone to get in on a "revolutionary" advertising scheme.
Apple is launching iAd, a marketing service dedicated to getting businesses' adverts on to iPhones and iPods in a way which matches the emotion of TV commercials, with the interactivity of computer technology.
A slew of global firms have already invested in the initiative, including Chanel, GE, Sears, Unilever, Walt Disney Studios and Citi, the latter of which believes that it offers a wide consumer market to work with.
Lisa Caputo, executive vice president at Citigroup, said iAd will enable the firm "to reach millions of people on their iPhone and iPod touch. iAd gives us a remarkable level of creativity for creating ads to connect with our current and future customers in a more interactive style than ever before".
The new Apple iPhone 4 features a 960-by-6400-pixel touchscreen with high-definition video, which could boost the visual attributes of any adverts on the devices.
