Sony Xperia Z3 v Apple iPhone 6: Rumours heating up
It will be one of the most anticipated battles of the year, and it seems like the two phones from Sony and Apple that are set to go head-to-head in September are now getting closer and closer to completion, with an increasing number of leaks now starting to show alleged images of the handsets.
The Sony Xperia Z3 is expected to be revealed by the Japanese firm at IFA 2014 in September, although nothing has been confirmed, while it's pretty much a safe bet to say that Apple will release the iPhone 6 in the same month at its own event in California.
So with around two months to go until we are likely to see these two phones coming our way, what is the latest on their release? We look at the newest leaks available.
Sony Xperia Z3
It may be less than six months since Sony revealed its last smartphone flagship device, but it doesn't look like the company has gone for an easy option of just updating what it had before.
New leaks have appeared on Xperia Blog, which was handed a series of images showing the alleged device in all its glory.
Sitting alongside a Samsung Galaxy Note device, the phone appears to have grown in size since the Xperia Z2 joined us in April. Now, it has what appears to be a five-inch screen, a full 0.3 inches larger than its predecessor.
And what else is new? Well it seems like Sony has gone for making the phone a little easier to handle. Although it had a really slick design and brilliant build quality, one criticism of the Xperia Z2 (and Z1) is that it was a little hard to grip effectively.
And it looks like this has been addressed with the arrival of the Xperia Z3, which has softer, more rounded corners than the flagship that came before it. Only time will tell if this is a final production model, but we certainly hope so.
Apple iPhone 6
Even though Apple has yet to even confirm the existence of the iPhone 6, it's pretty much certain that this is a phone we will see hitting the shelves this September. So what have learned about it in the last few days?
Although prior leaks have shown parts of the new phone, allegedly, the new leaks we've seen from KitGuru are apparently showing the phone in all its glory, and is a completed version, apparently.
The white and gold iPhone 6 is said to be fresh off the line in one of Foxconn's Chinese factories, which will be exciting for those who like colour variants of the popular devices.
Elsewhere, leaks on MyDrivers have apparently confirmed that the iPhone 6 will be larger than handsets that came before it, with a front panel from the device having apparently been snapped in a Chinese factory beside the panels from the iPhone 5S. It seems to confirm that the iPhone 6 will pack a 4.7-inch screen, which will be a much needed increase - if it happens to be true, of course.
