Smartphones 'to be top choice' of people who sell mobiles
Consumers with feature phones and other standard devices could soon start to sell their mobiles and join the smartphone revolution.
IDC recently released research that showed the number of feature phone shipments plummeted by 29 per cent in the second quarter of 2011, while the total quantity of smartphones rose by 48 per cent compared with a year ago.
Richard Sharp, technology editor at gadgetsandgizmos.org, explained that while mobiles will always have a place, their role is expected to weaken further over the next five years.
In their place, the rise of smartphones is set to continue as people seek to enjoy the numerous benefits they offer.
"Consumers demand more from devices these days and want them to do everything. It makes sense to have one device which acts as a phone, camera, computer and portable media player," Mr Sharp stated.
There is no point in buying these items separately as the top handsets offer them all.
