Selling an old mobile could allow for an internet-phone purchase
09/03/2010
The increasingly usage of internet-enabled mobile phones will see an increased uptake of mobile VoIP services, if recent suggestions ring true.
Market research firm In-Stat predicts that by the end of 2013 the number of mobile VoIP users will be 288 million.
The group also expects that dual-mode handsets - Wi-Fi and cellular - will see well over 400 million units shipped by 2013.
George Van Horn, senior analyst at IBISWorld, said: "The vast majority of broadband connections will be achieved via mobile devices, which means there is huge potential for the widespread introduction of mobile VoIP in the outlook."
He added that high-definition VoIP will have an important role to play in improving phone call quality and service options, which will contribute to the growing user base.
According to a report from IBISworld, the technology and innovation industries that have thrived in the past ten years - such as VoIP - are expected to continue to show improvements over the next decade.
