Security Could Be A Factor When Trading In Mobile Phone

Consumers who trade in a mobile phone in order to upgrade to a superior device this summer may have to consider the security specifications of any potential new model.

Con Mallon, director of regional product marketing at Norton, explained the rise of the mobile has led to increased potential for such handsets to be hacked.

While he admitted the threat of this to mobiles is small in comparison to other areas, it should be considered nonetheless.

Looking to the future, Mr Mallon noted experts will be "just trying to get the public more involved, more attuned, more knowledgeable about the requirement to basically start to take security seriously on their smartphones and on tablets".

When making a significant investment in a mobile phone, it may be worth ensuring it is adequately protected.

Juniper Research recently found that less than one-in-20 smartphones has third-party security installed, despite the rising threat of viruses, malwares and theft.
