Schools Advised To Invest In Apple IPhones And IPads

Schools and other education institutions have been highlighted as ideal locations for the widespread use of Apple iPhones, iPads and other devices.

Sarah Underwood, magazine and brand editor at ICT for Education, said the gradual uptake of technology is good news for pupils and will also prove to be a money-saving move.

The expert predicted using mobiles, gadgets and other handsets will result in less money being required to invest in other infrastructure.

"I think more schools will have virtual learning platforms. They're looking at ways of using the technology in a way that the children are familiar with at home," Ms Underwood added.

She sounded one warning for education bosses, however, noting the arrival of iPhones will not mean an instant rise in standards, as the models will have to be properly utilised by teachers.

A recent report by the Financial Times suggested tablet computers are playing an increasingly significant role in learning.
