Samsung unveils solar-powered phone
Samsung has revealed its latest mobile phone, which is set to do its fair share for the eco-system.
The Blue Earth device is a full-touch screen, solar powered handset, which the company claims is part of its vision of environmental sustainability.
Not only does the mobile phone show its green credentials through this feature, it is also made from recycled materials which have been extracted from water bottles, cutting down the carbon footprint of the production and manufacturing process.
JK Shin, executive vice-president and head of the mobile communications division for Samsung, states the scheme shows the firm's "small but meaningful" obligation to eco-friendly technology.
He added: "We are committed to achieving the highest eco-status with our customers and business partners by providing the best eco-products and promoting eco-activities."
Last year, fellow mobile phone giant Vodafone announced plans to introduce solar powered chargers for its handsets as a way of addressing the environmental issue, reported BusinessGreen.com.
