The Finnish company's share has dropped from 30 to 24 per cent as its popularity has declined around the world.
Nokia devices like the 3310 dominated in the early 2000s, but Apple and Samsung have begun to reign supreme since the smartphone was developed.
In an attempt to increase its customer base, the company adopted new Windows Phone 8 software for its Lumia 920 and 820 handsets.
Although Google's Android controls the majority of the operating system market, Nokia hoped that this new Microsoft firmware would attract a number of buyers.
