Samsung Rules Itself Out Of Buying RIM

Samsung has reportedly confirmed that it won't be looking into the possibility of purchasing Research In Motion (RIM) or the BlackBerry mobile phone maker's new operating system.

A lack of support from phone manufacturers could spell further trouble for the firm which has seen shares fall 80 per cent since their at the beginning of 2011, Reuters reports.

Despite this reported snub, RIM's chief executive Thorsten Heins told the Daily Telegraph earlier this month that BlackBerry is "still growing" and will be in a much better position when its "once in a decade" operating system is released.

Samsung had been thought of as a possible buyer of the ailing RIM after analyst at Meritz Securities Lee Sei-cheol stated that it could be interested in the firm if it had a "deep patent pool".

Contrary to this, UK managing director for MagicSoftware.com David Akka recently claimed Facebook was the most likely company to buy RIM.
