Samsung plays down Galaxy S III launch rumours
Samsung has downplayed widespread reports that it will be launching its new flagship smart mobile phone the Galaxy S III next month.
It had been claimed by ZDNet Korea that Samsung's advertising campaign had confirmed the launch to be next year but the Korean firm has admitted it will be unveiled in the first half of this year but no date has been set.
Samsung currently has a media event planned for March 22nd in Paris but it has yet to be announced when the new device will officially be launched.
A spokesman from the firm told gadget blog The Verge: "The successor to the Galaxy S II smartphone will be unveiled in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product. We cannot confirm the detailed information at the moment."
Despite not launching the Galaxy S III at last week's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, people still got their first look at several new products including the Beam smartphone, which incorporates a projector.
