Samsung launches new tablet mid-trial
Samsung has taken the bold move to release its new tablet - the Galaxy Note 10.1 - while it is in the middle of its current patent trial with Apple.
The new Android device distinguishes itself from the iPad by featuring a stylus and screen that can measure up to 24 different levels of pressure sensitivity.
It will also allow a split-screen mode in which two apps can be used at any one time.
In addition to this, Samsung has opted to retain a look that it introduced in 2011, which places wider bezels along two sides of the device.
This release comes as Samsung and Apple are currently embroiled in a bitter patent trial in the US in which both firms are accusing the other of copying its technology.
Apple has claimed that Samsung's products are "confusingly similar" to their own, while the South Korean giant has accused its rival infringing patents related to emailing photographs.
