Samsung Granted Access To Apple And HTC Settlement

A court has ruled that Samsung will be able to see details concerning a recent licensing agreement between fellow mobile phone manufacturers Apple and HTC.

Since the settlement between these companies may have an effect on the South Korean firm’s own patent disputes with the iPhone creator, a judge granted access to the information.

Media reports suggested that HTC had consented to paying licensing fees between £3.50 and £5 per device to Apple, so that it could gain approval for the implementation of patented technologies.

However, the chief executive Peter Chou reportedly rejected these claims, indicating that the firm was handing out far less.

Samsung and Apple are the market leaders in the smartphone industry, making popular gadgets like the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 respectively.

HTC’s top devices include the One X+ (plus), a handset which utilises the dominant Google Android operating system, and the 8X which is powered by the new Microsoft Windows Phone 8 software.
