Samsung and Apple handsets may be greatest incentive to recycle mobiles
Consumers may view Samsung and Apple models as the most likely to persuade them to recycle their old mobiles and upgrade.
That is because, according to the latest research from IDC, the brands have become the most popular in western Europe.
Samsung is the favourite mobile phone option, while Apple is said to be the most common choice for those seeking a smartphone.
Francisco Jeronimo, European mobile devices research manager at the organisation, said: "Samsung understood early the trend on touchscreen devices and became the market leader on feature-phones by providing a full range of devices at very competitive prices."
He went on to explain the continued popularity of Apple is down to the manufacturer's ability to understand and act on user experience and innovation factors.
Earlier this year, the company released the iPad 2, its latest tablet device, while the iPhone 5 is rumoured to be set for release at some point this year.
