RIM revenue reduced in Q4 of financial year
Research In Motion (RIM) has reported a 19 per cent decrease in revenue for Q4 in the financial year ending March 3rd.
Revenue stood at $4.2 billion (£3.6 billion), which is down from $5.2 billion in the previous quarter and also represents a 25 per cent decrease from $5.6 billion in the same period last year.
BlackBerry smart mobile phone shipments of 11.1 million in Q4 also show a 21 per cent decrease when compared with the previous quarter.
This release comes after RIM had been ousted from the top spot for smartphone shipments in its home market Canada for the first time.
President and chief executive officer of RIM Thorsten Heins said the company faces significant challenges over the "next several quarters".
"We are undertaking a comprehensive review of strategic opportunities including partnerships and joint ventures, licensing, and other ways to leverage RIM’s assets and maximize value for our stakeholders," he continued.
