RIM chief legal officer resigns
BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion (RIM) has said that chief legal officer Karima Bawa has resigned.
It represents the latest in a series of departures from the struggling mobile phone maker and just a matter of days after it was reported that the firm would have to lose at least 2,000 jobs.
Last week, the head of global sales Patrick Spence also stepped down from his position.
In response to falling market share in 2011 the co-chief executives of the firm Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie resigned in January and were replaced by Thorsten Heins.
The problems have seen the company's profits and overall appeal fall in the last few months as the likes of Apple and Samsung have strengthened their positions as the leading smartphone providers in the world.
Ms Bawa had been at RIM for 12 years and the firm claimed that she had been discussing the possibility of retirement for some time.
