Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 410

Qualcomm has announced it will be producing a 64-bit processor for mobile phones - the Snapdragon 410.

Rather than waiting for the CES 2014 at the start of January, the company has come out with the announcement now, maybe to enjoy its own moment in the spotlight.
The Snapdragon 410 has a lower number than Qualcomm's previous processors - 600, 800, 805 - and is aimed at a different handset tier. It features an integrated 4G LTE World Mode, which is designed for phones in emerging markets.

Some people may be shocked to see Qualcomm release a 64-bit processor as it was fairly open about its view when Apple included a similar chip in its iPhone 5S. The company's chief marketing officer even went as far to say that the feature was a "marketing gimmick" that had "no benefit" to customers.

The chip supports all of the main operating systems and is expected to launch for all devices that cost under $150 (around £90).
