'Phone of the year' could drive mobile recycling
Consumers could be interested in selling their used phone for cash to put towards a purchase of the "phone of the year".
The HTC Hero received the accolade at the 15th Global mobile Awards, while Apple chief Steve Jobs was voted as Mobile Industry Personality of the Year.
RIM won the Best Mobile Enterprise Product or Service prize for its BlackBerry Enterprise Server v5.0 and Orange's mobile high-defintion (HD) voice service saw it pick up the Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough gong.
Mobile phone users in the UK could soon enjoy HD voice calls as the network has revealed that it plans to trial the service in this country and several others over a three-month period.
The network hopes it will "create a much closer feeling of proximity between both parties, almost as if callers are actually in the same room".
Orange announced the news at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
