People Could Trade In Mobile Phone To Join Shopping Revolution

Britons who trade-in their mobile phone and replace it with one of the industry's latest devices will be in a position to benefit from an overhaul of the shopping sector.

Graham Charlton, senior reporter for Econsultancy, believes the continuing rise in sales of smartphones will persuade more major retailers to create a mobile commerce presence.

He suggests many will design a specialist website for the purpose of attracting customers via their mobiles or, alternatively, release an app for the activity.

"Mobile is becoming more widely used, due to one simple fact that there are more mobiles and smartphones out there than there were this time last year," explains Mr Charlton.

He goes on to note the sector now has a considerable amount of "momentum" behind it, predicting it is sure to grow again in 2011.

A study carried out recently by the Mobile Marketing Association found some 67 per cent of people in Europe believe they will use their mobile phone to do their Christmas shopping this year.
