Palm Pre launch continues the 'smartphone boom'
A spokesperson for Mobile Choice believes a selection of gadgets are now available that could tempt those recycling mobile phones.
Natasha Stokes, editor of the publication, explained a recent forecast stating the smartphone market was experiencing a boom was largely accurate.
She said one of the reasons for this was the many different ways in which people like to keep in touch and added social networking had taken off in a way that was much greater email or general web browsing.
This, the expert went on, was driving the success of a whole range of new technologies.
Ms Stokes said: "Then there are the Android devices and also just greater awareness of these phones and what they can do - thanks to mainstream adverts such as the recent ones for the Apple Apps."
Last week saw the launch of the Palm Pre on the O2 network, as well as an announcement from Research In Motion that the BlackBerry Storm2 would be available to pre-order on the Vodafone network.
