O2 announces Samsung Galaxy
With smartphones like the Apple iPhone 3G already available, O2 has once again strengthened its top-end device portfolio.
The Samsung Galaxy, which is also known as the i7500, was announced as the latest addition to the carriers range - and will be the first handset in the UK to be made widely available with Google Android that is not built by HTC.
Following the latter company's Magic, Hero and T Mobile G1, the South Korean phone features a 256 Mhz processor, five-megapixel camera, 3.2-inch AMOLED screen and 3G support.
Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi are also onboard and the Galaxy's 8 GB of internal memory can be expanded to 32 GB when a suitable MicroSD card is in use.
Steve Alder, general manager of devices at O2's parent company Telefonica Europe, said: "What I love about the Samsung Galaxy is the great user experience and the fantastic range of apps it brings to even more customers."
