Nokia's next phones could use NFC and wireless charging
The next in the Lumia series of Windows-powered Nokia mobile phones could have both Near Field Communications - which provides the ability to connect to external accessories - and also the use of wireless charging, it has been claimed.
Nokia's head of design Marko Ahtisaari told the Guardian that the company is also working closely with Microsoft to try and coordinate software details as intricate as tile colours so they match its hardware accessories.
New versions of the Lumia design are also set to remove the flip-up plastic tab that covers the micro-USB charger for the phone, which is one of just two moving parts on the handset.
"If you can take away a moving part and make it [the phone] more beautiful in the placement of the components, we'll do it, so that's something where we can certainly keep improving," he told the news provider.
It was claimed last week by fund manager at Storebrand Asset Management Espen Furnes that if Nokia has a strong launch with its latest Lumia smartphone it could help restore some investors' faith after a disappointing year.
