Nokia Winning Business From Blackberry

A senior Nokia executive has said his firm is streaking ahead of Blackberry after winning a number of business contracts from its maker Research In Motion.

Nokia director of B2B sales for Europe Adrian Williams told MobileNews his firm is "absolutely" keen to capitalise on any discontent among business customers at Blackberry, having recently picked up four big contracts at the expense of its rival.

These include IT firm TSG, facilities and service management company ISS, utilities and infrastructure supplier GTC and Salford City Council.

He stated: "The common theme with all of these contract wins is we're replacing BlackBerry within their business."

Mr Williams added that the Lumia range of devices is proving very popular.

One possible source of discontent with Blackberry users is its decision not to release any new products this year.

Last month, Nokia halved the price of its Lumia mobile phones in the US to increase its competitiveness, with the move taking place just three months after the product was launched.
