Nokia Unveils Asha 308 And 309 Mobile Phones

Nokia unveiled new Asha 308 and 309 mobile phones at an event in Indonesia on September 25th.

The latest additions to the Asha Touch family will be 'affordable' handsets, priced at the lower end of the scale.

The Finnish manufacturer says that the devices will cost around $99 (£61) excluding tax.

Executive vice president of mobile phones at Nokia, Timo Toikkanen, said: "Our innovative Asha Touch family of devices is designed for people who want a great smartphone experience with lower running costs."

The Asha 308 could allow users to save even more money, as it has dual-SIM capabilities. This means that owners can easily switch between different networks to get the best prices for different services.

The handsets will have three-inch capacitive-touch displays. A first for the range is the ability to stream videos from websites like YouTube.

The devices only support 2G networks. This means that 3G technology and the latest 4G speeds, expected to be launched by EE (Everything Everywhere) next month, cannot be utilised.
