Nokia reports 'greater use of apps'
A great number of consumers are enjoying the use of apps on their handset, if recent findings are anything to go by.
Nokia has revealed that its application store - the Ovi Store - is now seeing more than one million application downloads each day.
The news could encourage consumers to trade in their old mobile phone for cash to put towards an upgrade.
Tim Green, executive editor of Mobile Entertainment magazine, said: Apple started it and Apple's App Store works immeasurably better than any other."
He added that Apple also has an advantage because it has just one device, whereas manufacturers such as Nokia have to modify applications for the range of different screen sizes and interfaces that its handsets have.
A Gartner report about spending in mobile application stores this year suggests that Windows Mobile application stores' download revenue will exceed $4.2 billion (£2.57 billion) by the end of 2013.
