Nokia Normandy To Debut At MWC?

The heavily-anticipated Nokia-Android mobile phone could arrive at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in just a few weeks time.

According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the Android-running handset from the Finnish manufacturers will arrive at the MWC 2014 in Barcelona.

Although it's good news for fans of Google's operating system, it's thought the Android software on the Normandy handset won't have a number of features that are usually there.

There won't be a Google Play Store, as the Normandy will feature a selection of apps created by Nokia and Microsoft, like Here maps and Mix Radio, plus a Nokia app store full of Android apps, according to the WSJ's sources.

It makes sense for the Microsoft-owned company to put less focus on the apps and features made by rival Google, though it does beg the question why the manufacturer is releasing the handset at all.

The Nokia Normandy has been in the works for a long time but when Microsoft bought the Finnish manufacturer in 2013, it was hit-and-miss whether it would ever arrive - though it seems as though it definitely will now.
