Nokia N900 users could be first to benefit from Firefox for mobile
Mozilla will begin to offer users of the soon-to-be-launched Nokia N900 access to the mobile phone version of its popular web browser Firefox.
The news that it is also set to be launched on other handsets may provide an ideal opportunity for people considering upgrading to trade in their mobile for cash.
People who want to make use of the browser will be able to take advantage of the synchronisation feature between their PC and mobile phone.
Jay Sullivan at Mozilla told the BBC: "At the end of the working day you can walk away from your computer and keep on going on your phone."
He added that the phone encrypts all of the information and sends it back through the cloud between your desktop and mobile.
However, Mozilla has suggested that it may be some time before users of the Apple iPhone can use Firefox due to the restrictive nature of the phone.
