Nokia Mobile Phones May Offer Greatest Entertainment In Future

An expert has predicted a significant rise in the role of entertainment on mobile phones in the coming years.

Nokia executive vice-president Tero Ojanpera told a conference in London yesterday (June 23rd) that developers have an opportunity to make the most of expansion in the mobile entertainment market.

The Nokia Conversations blog suggests the current number of 450 million people who access the internet via their handset will rise to more than a billion by 2013.

Mr Opanjera said the sector is still young and there is plenty of potential to grow significantly.

For example, the publication notes the World Cup, which four years ago was not followed by mobile devices, is now on the agenda of 21 per cent of mobile entertainment users.

Nokia sells more than a billion models each year, perhaps suggesting it will be in pole position when it comes to developing entertainment features and apps.
