Nokia apologises for Lumia 920 video
Nokia has apologised after footage in a promotional video made to look like it was shot by a Lumia 920 mobile phone was actually filmed using a professional video camera.
The Finnish company unveiled its new flagship handset at events in Finland and New York on Wednesday, boasting about innovations such as PureView.
PureView is the camera technology which allows users to "take the kind of images usually only seen on a standalone SLR camera," according to executive vice president of Nokia Smart Devices Jo Harlow.
One of the main advantages is its ability to reduce blur on photographs being taken with an unsteady hand.
Nokia encountered criticism though, when The Verge technology website noticed a reflection of a cameraman in the promotional video for the new device.
The video shows footage of a girl on a bicycle as though it were filmed using the Lumia 920 handset, however, Nokia has admitted that a professional video camera was used.
This could be extremely misleading to customers. On the Nokia blog, Heidi Lemmetyinen said: "We should have posted a disclaimer stating this was a representation of OIS only."
