Nokia 6220, E71 And 5800 Users Get Spotify

Music lovers may be tempted to sell old mobiles to buy a Symbian smartphone following a new announcement.

It has emerged that Spotify, a popular downloadable software application that allows subscribers to stream audio to their portable devices, has released a version of the widget which is compatible with the system.

This means that owners of the Nokia 6220 Classic, E71 and 5800 XpressMusic will be able to sign up for the service.

Users of other mobiles that use the platform - like the Samsung GT-I8910 Omnia HD and Sony Ericsson Satio - will also find that the new application is supported by their device.

Gustav Soderstrom, director of portable solutions at Spotify, said the launch would mean more people across the globe could take advantage of its catalogue of songs.

"Many mid to high-end Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung phone owners might be surprised to realise they can run Spotify on their phones. This takes our mobile music offering to a totally new level," he added.

The Nokia 5800 was also one of the first to feature the manufacturer's Comes With Music option.
