New Gmail app could inspire users to trade in mobiles
People wishing to trade in mobiles and buy a better model might be tempted towards the Apple iPhone, after its Gmail application was launched this week.
Google's gadget, which is available for not just the smartphone but also the iPod touch and iPad, aims to bring users the best of the Gmail web app and its iOS operating system at once, aiding better productivity and efficiency.
Among the features is the ability to autocomplete email addresses, search the entirety of the inbox to find a specific message in seconds and receive alerts.
Also highlighted is the optimised interface, enabling account holders to navigate with "the lightest touch".
Of course, trading in mobiles for a better model means there is a huge selection of handsets from which to choose. While the iPhone remains popular, it was recently announced that HTC has reached the number one position in the US.
Canalys research found that in the third quarter of this year, HTC shipped 5.7 million smartphones, beating competitors such as Samsung and Apple.
