Net tablets 'will prove popular this year'
Net tablets will prove to be a popular purchase for "tens of millions" of people during 2010, it has been predicted.
The Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice at Deloitte announced its 2010 predictions for the technology sector and suggested that 2010 will be the year that net tablets breakout.
Consumers will also increasingly use their own handset for work-related activities, it predicts.
Jolyon Barker, global lead for Deloitte's Technology, Media and Telecommunications Industry, comments: "We also predict that in 2010 many enterprise purchasing decisions will be based more on the preferences of individual employees, rather than traditional IT department criteria."
The report suggests that net tablets have an advantage over smartphones - which it states are often quite small when watching videos - and netbooks and notebooks which it suggests are often too expensive or heavy.
Consumers looking to get money for their old mobile could be able to invest in a net tablet later this year as the likes of Apple and Microsoft teaming up with Hewlett-Packard are expected to launch products soon.
It has recently been reported that many Brits are wasting almost half of their mobile tariff's minutes and text allowance each month.
