Motorola launches the Rival
A new mobile phone has been launched that its manufacturer believes will be ideal for users who like to send messages via email and text.
The Motorola Rival joins a stable of handsets that include the T Mobile G1 and Nokia N97 in providing a full qwerty keyboard - in the case of this model though, the pad is lit from the back to make tapping out words a little easier.
In addition to its status as a messaging mobile, Motorola has claimed the Rival is able to keep people "socially connected, while offering a variety of popular multimedia features".
Facilities which could tempt those recycling mobile phones to hunt down the device include a 3.5 mm headset jack, support for microSD memory cards and an integrated media player.
Other handsets available from the manufacturer include the music-focussed ROKR and the flagship Aura handset - which was marketed using England footballer David Beckham.
