Motorola Droid Takes On RAZR And IPhone

The new Motorola DROID might be a device those recycling mobile phones may want to replace their Motorola RAZR V3, if a new study is anything to go by.

According to GigaOM, many have cited the Android 2.0 carrying smartphone as a genuine challenger to the crown of the Apple iPhone 3G S, but the more pressing matter is how it fairs against one of its predecessors.

The Motorola RAZR sold over 100 million units and had the honour of being the slimmest of its kind, the site noted, adding that Compete senior associate Miro Kazakoff called it a "triumph of form over features".

However, it was explained that the DROID will be looking to top this popularity and gets off to a good start with its range of functions.

Sanjay Jha, chief executive officer of Motorola Mobile Devices, recently commented on the new model, stating it offers "a rich consumer experience with warp-speed Web browsing [and] a mammoth screen".
