Mobile Trade Ins Could Rise On Back Of Nokia Microsoft Deal

Nokia could be behind a surge in the uptake of phones around the world, including for those who have chosen to trade-in their old mobiles.

Phil, author of the latest Nokia Conversations blog, says the decision of the Finnish brand and computer giant Microsoft to team up is one that creates plenty of opportunities.

One of these, he notes, is the potential for many of the planet's three billion people who do not own a handset to do so.

"Today marks a renewed approach to capture volume and value growth to connect the next billion mobile users," Phil states.

And Nokia is already making a good start to such a quest, as it is currently selling about a million Series 40 devices every day.

The two companies confirmed today (February 11th) they intend to share technology and strategy, in a move that will see Nokia produce handsets that use the Windows Phone 7 operating system.
