Mobile Recycling Could Keep Journeys On Track

Consumers could wish to consider mobile recycling as an option in order to keep their journeys on track.

The Highways Agency iPhone app - which can identify the user's current location, gives a breakdown of any planned roadworks and displays live traffic updates - has proved popular with drivers since its launch.

"By making our information freely available it will be much easier for people to plan their journeys," said Highways Agency director of traffic management Simon Sheldon-Wilson.

He added that checking a route ahead of travel can prove beneficial to everybody as it can cut congestion, save fuel and reduce carbon emissions.

More than 50,000 people have downloaded the app so far, making it the fourth most popular download overall.

Users currently without the Apple iPhone can keep up to date with the latest information from the Highways Industry through its website, accessible through an internet phone.

The iPhone is available on O2, Tesco, Vodafone and Orange.
