Mobile phones with apps 'will remain popular'
Consumers have developed a taste for mobile phones with apps ever since the iPhone took off, it has been said.
Whether you want one to decide whose turn it is to make the tea or a new game to keep you occupied on the daily commute, there will be an app for it. And if the app does not exist, you can always create your own or wait long enough and someone else will have made it.
A recent study by LGMobile found that the app market is worth £422.2 million a year, with people spending up to £5 a month on apps. And this does not include the apps that can be downloaded for free.
Tom Dunmore, editor for gadget magazine Stuff, said mobile phones with apps had longevity. He said: "The app phenomenon will continue. It extends the lifetime of a mobile phone and is a cheap way to have some fun."
LG found the most popular apps were those that saved users time and money, with 34 per cent of people saying they are a "must have".
