Mobile Phones To Generate Half Of MySpace Traffic

Social networking site MySpace anticipates that up to half of its traffic will come from users accessing the site via mobile devices in the coming years, according to an executive.

MySpace UK managing director Anthony Lukom suggested that portability is one reason why MySpace will be successful on mobile phones, Techradar.com reported.

Mr Lukom also added that location tracking services are likely to become more popular with mobile social networking users in the coming years.

"You can see the audience really want location-based services - you can see if your friend is round the corner so you can go and have a coffee," he explained.

According to figures published in January by comScore, the popularity of mobile social networking in Europe increased by 152 per cent between November 2007 and November 2008.

The data indicated that the UK has the highest concentration of mobile social networking users, while the activity is least popular in Germany.
