Mobile phones could 'damage unborn babies'
Research has shown that radiation emitted from mobile phones could have the power to damage unborn babies.
Following a study conducted on pregnant mice that were in the vicinity of an active mobile phone, there are concerns that unborn humans could be at risk.
The study showed the mice that gave birth after being subjected to the radiation had offspring that showed signs of hyperactivity, anxiety and poor memory.
These noted differences were attributed to impaired development of neurons in the prefrontal cortex of the brain.
Professor Hugh Taylor of Yale University believes mobile phones could be partly responsible for rising rates of behavioural afflictions such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Diagnosis of the disorder has increased at an average rate of three per cent a year since 1997.
"The rise in behavioural disorders in human children may be in part due to fetal cellular telephone irradiation exposure," Mr Taylor was quoted as saying in the Scientific Reports.
